November through March, the average temperature is 33 F. The average summer temperature is around 70 F, with July having peak average highs of 75 F. Annually, Indianapolis gets around 40 inches of rain that’s evenly distributed throughout the year --- there’s no "dry season." Expect snow about seven times each winter, with at least an inch of the white stuff each snowfall.

In addition to sports travel, Indianapolis is a manufacturing and industrial Mecca; numerous large companies have a presences here. Expense account travel may be a factor in making Indianapolis a surprisingly expensive place to visit. A hotel with a good business location can easily cost $100 nightly. While there is a range of restaurants in the city, you’ll search far and wide for a dinner at a cost of less than $20 unless you restrict yourself to a burger and fries.
